My name is Jared Sessum, and I am proud to be a candidate for Seabrook City Council Position 2. My family and I have called this wonderful area home for over 20 years. My wife, Jennifer, and I have been married for over 13 years, and together we are raising our 11-year-old daughter, who will who will attend Clear Creek ISD just as we did.
With over two decades of experience in public safety, I currently serve as an EMS Captain for the City of Deer Park. I have dedicated my career to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents, both as a first responder and as a longtime volunteer with the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department. My firsthand experience in emergency services has given me a deep understanding of the challenges our community faces, as well as the importance of strong leadership, preparedness, and collaboration. My career also lead me to my wife whom I met through work when we both were part of Clear Lake Emergency Medical Corps. Jennifer currently works as an RN for Texas Children's Hospital.
Beyond my professional career, I am an avid sports fan who enjoys supporting the Astros, Texans, and our local sports programs. I believe in fostering a strong sense of community, where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and residents feel safe and heard.
Seabrook is a special place, and I am committed to ensuring it continues to be a great city for all who live and work here. I look forward to the opportunity to serve, listen, and work alongside my neighbors to make a positive impact.
I would be honored to earn your support and your vote for Seabrook City Council Position 2.
Here are the top issues that I am the most passionate about:
1. Public Safety-
As someone who has dedicated that past 20+ years of my life working in Public Safety, I feel that this is something that I am passionate about. Using my background and experiences gives me the opportunity to provide first-hand experiences of the needs of Public Safety.
2. Economic Development-
I want to continue to support and grow our wonderful local businesses that we have in Seabrook. I also want to work along side our great EDC and attract new businesses that will allow Seabrook to keep that great charm that we all love, while also finding the ones that will help Seabrook to grow and flourish
3. Community Engagement-
This would involve being open and transparent to all of our citizens. I think that it is important for everyone to know the process of how decisions are made. I also firmly believe that an open line of communication between City Council members and the public is absolutely vital for the success of this city.
I also will work our Citizens and work on including them in as many decisions as possible; while also understanding that there are some decisions that require confidentiality. I want to incorporate a sense of ownership for our Citizens.
I have been involved with the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. During this time I have worn many hats and worked in many different positions. Currently I oversee our First Responder Program and work exclusively alongside the City of Seabrook EMS to ensure that we are all on the same page. In this role I have seen people experience their best days of their lives, and unfortunately also experience the worst days of their lives. This has helped me stay humble and continue the passion that I have for the job at hand.
I have also been active in local sports programs while acting as both Manager and Assistant Coach for my daughter's baseball and softball teams.
I have volunteered at my daughter's school for the Watch D.O.G.S. program and numerous other school events.
